Katherine-Third Quarter Reflection Saad-Free Post

March Madness is my favorite part of the basketball season and is probably my favorite way that any sports season is ended. March Madness is the NCAA tournament that has 64 teams and 6 different rounds. This tournament is always very fun to watch and it is fun to pick the brackets for who you think is going to win. This is something I have been doing every year for a while. I am usually pretty good at this but this has been my worst year in a while. This years tournament has had more upsets than I have ever seen. The most shocking of which made history when the 16 seeded UMBC beat Virginia the overall 1 seed.  This also happened to be who I had picked to win the tournament and my bracket was already done for before the second round. Then there is also Loyola Chicago who has made it into the final 4 tied for the highest seed to make it there. This was overall no ones year for picking a bracket.

Purple Hibiscus involves a Nigerian family that is very religious and very different from the rest of the Nigerian families we have been introduced to. They are very different because there is an abusive dad and husband. We have seen that the dad gets very angry when somebody does not agree with him. We do not really know why he is like this and we don't have many clues yet either. This is something that will cause the conflict as the book goes on. I believe the dad abuses his family like this because he feels it is his duty to make his family very Christian. We can see that a he is very scared of his family members being exposed to anything that doesn't involve Christianity.  When he feels they are not being good Christians he wants to take matters in to his own hands. He does not view him beating his family as negative because he feels as if he is truly helping them become better Christians. Katherine-Beach Poem Dylan-God's Plan

One of the great classics is Hotel California by Eagles. The first few lines of this song sound very Euphonic and it sounds like a very peaceful road trip idea that they are trying to convey. In the next few lines they allude to the way people think life once you make it in thematic industry is great but there are still many negatives. A woman is used metaphorically to show how they were led down the dark path of drugs. They discuss this many times in the song. They talk about voices in their head in the middle of the night trying to get us to picture a prison where he is trapped in this life. They talk about not being able to kill the beast. In this situation it is interpreted that the beast is addiction and they have a hard time getting rid of it. The Hotel California in this song is a metaphor for the life of drugs that has been very bad to them. https://genius.com/33955

The wind rubbed my hair like a blissful brush,  kicking up the sand like it's lighter than dust, forcing the waves to crash upon the shore, annoying sounds I could not ignore, as I wade in waist deep, The brackish waters take me off my feet, suddenly feels so cold, The towel so far from hold, leaving the water as I continue to freeze, remembering a warm summer breeze. `

I love breakfast so much and on weekends it is the highlight of my day. Breakfast foods are the best for sure. I love eggs the most for sure, partially because there are so many different variants of it. My favorite type is this thing make called egg in a nest. You take a piece of bread and then you use a cup to cut a hole in the middle of it. Then you put it in the pan and pour the egg into the hole and then when its finished there is scrambled egg in the middle of the bread. My other favorite thing is breakfast croissants. The one at La Madelines is my favorite for sure. It has cheese, bacon, and egg, in between the two sides of the croissants. The combination of the bacon, the cheese, and the egg is so amazing and I always eat it. Breakfast food can be eaten at all times of the day and that is one of the best things about it. Breakfast is so amazing.

One of my favorite speakers during launch day was Erin. I thought the way that she presented was very engaging and interactive. It was a new twist that I found to be very cool and innovative. I liked the way that she did not try to force us to believe in her opinion but instead presented the facts and the arguments for both and left it up to us to form our own educated opinion. I thought the arguments sounded well made for both and I had already had my own opinion on the issue and the debate was still very entertaining. I also enjoyed Graham Frazier's presentation on the affect a powerful opinion can have on marketing and more specifically the Stockmarket. He explained what exactly the stock market was as it can be a point of confusion for many people. Then he gave us examples of how the stock market has changed based on the opinion of popular businessmen or other important people. I overall thought launch day was very interesting.
