Choice book response

     Scarlet

A choice book that I read over the summer is called Scarlet and it is written by Marissa Meyer. It is the second book in the series with Cinder. The book introduces a new character named Scarlet, who has a missing grandmother that she wants to find. Everyone just thinks that her grandmother is crazy and that she just left but she knows better. She meets a mysterious guy who wants to help her find her grandmother. Meanwhile Cinder is escaping from jail trying not to get caught by Lunars or the people  of the Commonwealth. I thought that it was a good book and it was better than the first book in the series, Cinder, and I would recommend reading this book.

To me the book was both predictable and shocking at the same time and would actually recommend  it to people who like mystery books as well. The beginning of the book was kind of slow paced but the end was action-packed. I still enjoyed it a lot and read through it quickly. If u thought that Cinder was a really bad book and just hated it then I would not recommend reading Scarlet as it is the second book in the same series. I thought that the book was not very confusing and that it would be an easy read.

In conclusion, I would say that Scarlet is a good book that I would recommend to a lot of people but it is definitely not for everyone.

Thanksgiving break can be so annoying. We have so much homework and it stresses me out the entire break. I wish we could have a whole break with no homework. But I guess that is just too much to ask for. I get that we need to keep our minds refreshed sometimes but we get so much homework it does so much more than that.        Thanksgiving is also just not my favorite holiday in general. We have to all just sit together and eat and it is so boring. Thursday was definitely my least favorite day of the break. It isn't my moms favorite holiday because eating food we don't especially like isnt our favorite pastime. So this holiday gets on my nerves.

Gun control

I am responding to a Newsday article written by Justin Haskins responding to the Las Vegas shooting and on the issue of gun control. Haskins makes the claim that strict gun laws will not work in this country as they already do not work. He also wants to explain why this will not work    " the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, a group that supports enhancing gun-control laws, gave in its recent gun-control report card “F” grades (for having lax gun laws) to five of the six states that have the lowest homicide rates"(Haskins). Haskins points out here that there is correlation between having gun laws that aren't strict and having low homicide rates. He also points out that the six states of Arkansas, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and West Virginia are the only states that have 50% of households that own firearms. He points out that  these states are among the top ranked for having the lowest homicide rates. He discusses how the statistics from cities that have very low
"Ughhhhh!" Michael groans watching the monumental disappointment that is the LSU game.      "I can't believe this is happening I thought we were going to be good." Johnathon sighs as he tries to make sense of what is happening.      "Our defense is doing terrible." Michael says. "I don't even want to watch this anymore!" said Johnathon .      "Do you think next game will be any better?" Michael asked. "It better be or else I'm going to stop watching these games!" Johnathon exclaimed.      "That makes two of us!" Michael said as he turned off the tv.
