Cade- Human nature Katherine- How did the kids' reactions to being deserted in LOTF compare to the in-class session's reaction?

Free post

My favorite day of the week right now is Tuesday. Tuesday is just a mediocre day overall until the amazing hour of 7 pm. At 7 is when the flash comes on on the CW channel. It is Gregory and I's favorite show and it is an hour long. It just started its fourth season after a long break that was torturous.              I always go over to Gregory's house and we rotate who buys the pizza each week. It's always so much fun and it is something to look forward to on Mondays and Tuesdays which are usually the hardest days of the week. This is always a fun mark in my week that Gregory and I discuss. We end up theorizing about what we think is going to happen in the next episode. This makes Tuesdays just great.

Human Nature

In my experiences it is human nature to let their opinions change facts. People, including myself come into a lot of issues with a preconceived notion or stance on the issue. Sometimes it is easy to forget that stance and sometimes it is really hard to do. Sometimes it changes the way you think of the facts or just whether you think that they are true or not.             You can experience this just talking to people about things or just watching the news. My views on certain issues changes the way I watch and think of the news just as it does to other people. It is very rare to find someone who does not have an issue with this at all. Human nature is hard to avoid.

LSU beats Florida

Florida is one of the teams that I just can't stand. Their football team is bunch of arrogant guys who have more attitude than talent. I've been waiting for this game ever since last year when we lost on the 1 yard line. Watching the game this year I was so nervous and I just wanted us yo win so bad. We went up by 14 and I thought that we were just going to win like that and then before you know it it's 17-10 and they are driving down the field.      Then they scored and I started to think that we were going to lose. But then all of a sudden they missed the extra point and I felt rejoiced. We went on to win the game and I was so happy that even though Danny Etling had a terrible game, we still won. I was the happiest ever after an LSU game besides Alabama games when we win. Revenge has been served.

Reading Response to A & P

A & P was a very odd story due to the setting, and subject of the story. The setting made it very odd because it made the story so unrelatable. The main thing about the setting that made it so unrelatable was the timing of the story. Now days, seeing people in their swimsuits isn't that abnormal and isn't really as big of a deal as it was described in the story. Also due to the fact that he works a cash register and I've never done that.      The subject was very weird due to the way that he described everything. You could tell that the guy was clearly fascinated with the girls. He talked about them as if he doesn't see many girls.  He was wandering if they had brains showing he hasn't had any conversations with a woman that he considers to be smart. Overall this was a kind of odd story meant to make the reader uncomfortable.

Flash fiction story

Jake was on his back before he knew it when the flash of purple hit him. He immediately knew his reaction had worked. He felt the electricity buzzing around him and his lab caught flames and he just left as all of his assistants burned and tried to call for help trapped under all of the equipment. He ran out into the street and as he thrust his hand the Tacoma exploded in front of him. The SHDA ( Super Human Defense Agency) was there in minutes just as he had counted on when he ran over the plan in his head. As their cars rolled up, a huge fight erupted that endangered the lives of many civilians. But just as abruptly as Jake had gotten powers, he was shot down to the street with a thud. Everyone just drove away and continued on like every normal day.

Reading response to Harrison Bergeron

Harrison Bergeron is a quirky story with a cloudy message that people are still arguing about today. It's plot clearly follows the Freytag's pyramid diagram. It has very vivid detail yet it is still a pretty hard world to imagine as it is so far in the future. It seems to be a story designed by the author to ask someone what they define equality to be or if it is good or not.     The fact that the author was a socialist strikes me as odd as the government making everyone equal is the whole basis for socialism. I think that the idea suggested in class that he was making fun of the way people depicted socialism to be and not actual socialism was interesting. However, I thought of the story as more of something to ask the reader what equality really is.
